Shiroda Youth Club cruise into quarterfinals

MARGAO

Shiroda Youth Club produced a dominant performance to defeat Navelim Sporting Club 3“0 and book their place in the quarter-finals of the 34th St Rock Super Soccer Cup, organised by St Rock Youth Club Calata-Majorda, at the Majorda ground on Friday.

Shiroda Youth Club took the lead in the 18th minute of the first half when Astal Dias struck with a well-placed finish. Just five minutes later, they doubled their advantage after being awarded a penalty, which Joldran Vaz converted confidently to make it 2“0 at the break.

Navelim Sporting Club attempted to stage a comeback and came close through a direct free-kick, but the Shiroda goalkeeper made an excellent save to keep their hopes alive.

Shiroda Youth Club, however, remained in control and sealed the win in the second half when Shawn Colaso netted the third goal in the 29th minute, putting the result beyond doubt.

Astal Dias was named Man of the Match for his standout performance. The award was presented by club vice-president Roque D’Silva.
