Sporting Clube de Goa head coach Savio Vaz has expressed his happiness after winning the GFA Pro League recently.
“From the beginning to the end, it was a challenge. Medical protocols, very short training session... it was difficult for everyone, not just the Flaming Oranje,” Vaz said.
“Finally after being done with the trophy and you look back, you feel very happy because you see the stupendous effort that everyone put in,” Vaz observed. “This is the second year in succession since I took over the reins of Sporting Clube that we have won. It’s been great to see the way everyone has been putting their best effort,” said Vaz.
He said that all the members of the team are motivating one another to keep working hard during training sessions. “Apart from maintaining good physical fitness, staying mentally strong is also very important for us,” Vaz said.
“We all live like a family here and the environment is wonderful for us. We support each other during good and bad times and all of us have been motivating each other to keep giving our best in every practice session for the team. That’s how we maintain our physical and mental fitness,”
The coach thanked all the fans. “Special thanks to the fans of Flaming Oranje who supported the team with full force throughout the season and also in the championship match against opponents and we promise them to continue working to make them happy and win more championships.”
The coach extended his thanks and appreciation to the club's late boss Peter Vaz, who had philanthropic traits when it came to various social justice issues. “He considered football as a medium to uplift talented youth,” said Vaz, who dedicated the victory to Peter.
“I congratulate the players, technical as well as administrative staff and fans of the club for its excellence and the distinctive level of the team throughout this season’s championship. That led them to lift the league shield well-deservedly after presenting wonderful and strong levels, achieving result.”
