St. Anthony Club, Colva edged past Ambelim Sports Club 5“4 via tie-breaker to advance to the quarterfinals of the Varca Panchayat Cup, organised by Varca Sports Club at the Varca Ground on Tuesday.
The match was goalless at halftime, with Vicky Cardozo missing a chance in the 14th minute and Bleston Simoes failing to convert for Ambelim ten minutes later. Both sides played attacking football, but neither could break the deadlock in regular time.
In the tie-breaker, St. Anthony Club found the net through Blessings Gomes, Samson Gomes, Clayton Fernandes, Kabir Khan, and Dinu Raikar, while Michael Silva, Bleston Simoes, Astin Pinto, and Rehman Cardozo scored for Ambelim Sports Club.
Man of the Match was awarded to Samson Gomes of St. Anthony Club, Colva.
