St Rock YC Majorda booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the 4th Betalbatim Villagers Cup with a thrilling 9-8 victory via tie-breaker over Parish Youth Nuvem at the Betalbatim Panchayat ground on Thursday.
In front of a large and enthusiastic crowd, both teams put on an attacking display, with the match ending in a 4-4 draw at full time.
Parish Youth Nuvem struck early, with goals from Francisco Colaco (7’), Albino Pereira (13’), Leroy Colaco (16’) and Joywin Costa (47’).
St Rock YC Majorda responded with equal flair as Ashley Rodrigues scored twice in the 23rd and 42nd minutes, while Oscar Braganza also netted a brace in the 24th and 55th minutes, keeping the match finely balanced.
In the ensuing penalty shootout, St Rock YC Majorda held their nerves and emerged as the better shooters to seal a hard-fought win.
For his standout performance and crucial goals, Oscar Braganza was named Man of the Match, with the award presented by Constancio Miranda, former headmaster of Betalbatim.
