Sufiya Shaikh, Shaheen C.K., and Saanvi Audi emerged as the star performers at the State Mini and Sub-junior badminton ranking tournament held at the Indoor Stadium, Campal, Panaji.
Organized by the Radiant Sports Club Ponda and Panaji Ganeshotsav Samiti, in collaboration with Goa Badminton Association and the Sports Authority of Goa, the tournament which concluded on Sunday showcased remarkable talent and fervent competition among young badminton enthusiasts across the state.
Sufiya Shaikh's exceptional performance hogged the spotlight as she secured the quadruple crown by triumphing in the U17 Girls Singles and Doubles, as well as the U17 and U19 Mixed Doubles categories. Shaheen C.K. and Saanvi Audi also demonstrated their prowess by clinching triple crowns each.
There were a few other players who showcased their brilliance by securing double crown victories. Yash Desai dominated the U19 Boys Singles and Doubles, while Amaira Dhumatkar (U9 and U11 Girls singles), Avni Khyalia (U13 Girls singles and doubles), Shane D’ Souza (U15 Boys Doubles and Mixed doubles) and Mohammed Umar (U13 Boys singles and doubles) also impressed with victories in their respective categories.
The tournament recognised the achievements of other talented players who excelled in various categories. Notable names include Aditi Dhargalkar, Advait Balakrishnan, Aaryaa Metry, Arnav Saraf, Ashmeet Parsekar, Janhavi Virnodkar, Komal Kothari, Michael Mare, Palak Ramnathkar, Pratik Naik Botkar, Shivanjali Thite, Soham Naik, Sudhanva Udupa, Synnovia Dsouza, Varun Sahakari, Vihaan Sahakari, and Viraditya Pai Kane.
Additionally, recognition was given to the runners-up who displayed commendable performances. Among them were Anav Kanneker, Anvitha Poojari, Ashbah Tahasildar, Dimple Revankar, Janhavi Virnodkar, Komal Kothari, Linesh Virnodkar, Minoshka Pereira, Myra De Noronha, Niharika Dogra, Niharika Parwar, Nysa Dhupdale, Om Nandanwar, Palak Ramnathkar, Pragya Audi, Rudra Phadte, Samarth Sakhalkar, Vishwa Parab, Shaan CK, Shaurya Naik, Shivanjali Thite, Sambhav Bharadwaj, Soham Naik, Sparsh Kolwalkar, Vedh Lotliker, and Vishwa Parab. Shubham Swami and Devaj Vaigankar were awarded Promising Player prizes.
Dr. Ketan Bhatikar, Social Worker, Sandeep Heble, Secretary of Goa Badminton Association, and members of the organizing clubs, Naveed Tahasildar, Jaywant Saraf, Sahil Kamat, and Vinayak Kamat were among those who graced the closing.
