UC Ungirim advance after tie-breaker win

MARGAO

UC Ungirim booked their place in the next round of the 9-a-side Curtorim Inter-Ward Football Tournament 2026 after edging past Corjem Sinaibhag United 4-3 in a tie-breaker at the St Alex Church Ground, Curtorim. The tournament is being organised by Sporting Club Virabhat.

Ungirim created the first real chance of the match in the 10th minute, but Dawson Sardinha failed to capitalise on a clear scoring opportunity. Corjem Sinaibhag United responded with a series of attacking moves but were unable to break the deadlock as both teams went into the break without a goal.

The second half saw Corjem Sinaibhag United come close to scoring when Rhay Dias unleashed a powerful shot, only to be denied by an excellent save from Ungirim goalkeeper Dylan Sardinha.

With neither side able to find the net in regulation time, the match was decided through a tie-breaker. UC Ungirim held their nerve to emerge 4-3 winners and secure a spot in the next round.

For his outstanding performance between the posts, especially during the tie-breaker, Dylan Sardinha of UC Ungirim was named Man of the Match. The award was presented by Caitano Fernandes, a member of Sporting Club Virabhat.
