MARGAO
United Boys of Ambaulim defeated Parish Youth, Nuvem 2-0 in the GFA Second Division League at Don Bosco Oratory Ground, Fatorda on Monday. The winners led 1-0 at half time.
United Boys held the upper hand in the opening session and carried out well-orchestrated raids. Persistent forays paid off in the 21st minute as Royston Fernandes punted the ball to the far corner of the net.
Spurred by the success, Ambaulim lads intensified their efforts but could add to their tally due to some wayward finishing by their forwards. Crossing over, Parish Youth tried their best to come back into the game but the rival defenders stood tall in protecting their slender lead.
In the 88th minute, Parish Youth suffered a jolt when Royston Mascarenhas was ejected by the referee after he received a second yellow card. A minute later, Dailon Carvalho converted a spot kick to put the result beyond doubt.
