United Brothers were crowned champions of the Advocates Cricket League (ACL T20) 2025 after they beat Risers by six wickets in the final played under floodlights at the GCA Ground, Porvorim, on Saturday.
United Brothers won the toss and opted to bowl first and their decision paid off as Dattaraj Parab dismissed opener Shantaram Naik for a duck in the very second ball of the first over.
Risers struggled to recover, losing wickets at regular intervals. Skipper Anoop Kudtarkar’s fluent 41-run knock was the only highlight of their innings. Abhay Rivonkar’s quickfire 25 and Abhinav Marathe’s 15 were the other notable contributions.
Risers were eventually bowled out for 137 in 20 overs, with United Brothers’ Raghu Parab claiming 3/24. Dattaraj Parab, Satyam Ghogale, and Sanket Salgaonkar took two wickets each.
In response, openers Satyam Ghogale and Mukesh Navelkar gave United Brothers a solid 37-run stand for the opening wicket in just 4.4 overs before the latter departed for 12. Sahil Khot was the next batter to be dismissed. He made only 5 runs but added 20 runs with Ghogale for the second wicket. Next batter Dattaraj Gawas and Ghogale played with utmost sensibility, taking the score to 84/2 in the 11th over.
After a floodlight failure, United Brothers briefly lost momentum, losing Ghogale, who was dismissed after making a strokeful 34-ball 50 that had 5 fours and 3 sixes. Dattaraj Gawas (37) soon followed, but Showmik Angle (14*) and Dattaraj Parab (4*) ensured there were no more hiccups, guiding their team to a convincing six-wicket victory. For Risers, Adil took 2 wickets, while Anoop Kudtarkar and Harsh Mashelkar claimed one scalp each.
Satyam Ghogale was adjudged the player of the final for his all-round performance.
The closing ceremony was graced by several prominent legal figures, including the chief guest, Justice Makarand S Karnik, Judge of the High Court of Bombay at Goa, Advocate General of Goa Devidas Pangam, and Principal District and Sessions Judge Irshad Aga. Senior advocates, including Jose Elmano Coelho Pereira and Nitin Sardesai were also present to celebrate the occasion.
