United Club Benaulim defeated Don Bosco Oratory Fatorda 6-5 via the tiebreaker to enter into the semifinals of the 16th Super Soccer tournament organised by United Club of Benaulim, played at St John the Baptist Dando ground, Benaulim, on Tuesday.
Arif Pathan gave Benaulim an early lead in the fourth minute, but Fatorda intensified their efforts after the setback. Benaulim’s goalkeeper, Scott, made exceptional saves to maintain their advantage. The second half witnessed Fatorda’s relentless pursuit of an equaliser, yet they struggled to breach the solid defence led by Jolly and Claudsen.
In the dying moments, Hanslam managed to level the score for Fatorda. The match proceeded to tiebreakers, where Benaulim’s Osbourne, Nicholas, Faisal, Mona, and Arif successfully netted goals, while Roque, Joel, Velton, and Alfred scored for Fatorda. Scott Carvalho of Benaulim was named the man of the match, receiving the award from Mr Luis, the sports secretary of Navelim Villagers Union.
