St Anthony's SC Marna-Siolim beat Nerul SC 6-1 to move into the next round of the 22nd Vagator Soccer 2022 organised by Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club, at Vagator Parish Youth Sports Club Ground, Ozran, on Sunday.
Mayruesh Naik of St Anthony's SC Marna played a key role in the victory as he scored a hat-trick. He opened the scoreline in the 13th minute with a 35-yard free kick into the top corner. At the beginning of the second half, Mayuresh netted his second goal and then completed his hat-trick in the 54th minute.
The other three goals were scored by Videsh Sawant, Kashiram Pomburphekar and Dalesh Pednekar in the 41st, 61st and 63rd minute for St Anthony's SC Marna respectively. While Anand Madgaonkar netted the consolation goal for Nerul SC in the 30th minute with a free header from a cross from the left flank through Sainath Kalangutkar.
The Man of the match was awarded to Mayruesh Naik of St Anthony's SC, Marna-Siolim.
Raia Sporting thrash ABC Arambol to reach semis
Raia Sporting Club beat ABC Sports Club Arambol 6-2 to move into the semifinals of the 49th Custodio Memorial Trophy football tournament organised by Raia Sporting Club at Raia Village Panchayat ground on Sunday.
Silvester Dias of Arambol missed chances to score in the 4th and 6th minutes while Lloyd Cardozo of Raia missed a chance to score in the tenth minute. Cyprian Rodrigues of Arambol also missed a chance. Lloyd then netted the first goal of the match with a placement shot in the 20th minute. Two minutes later, he netted the second for Raia. Silvester made it 1-2, scoring for Arambol in the 25th minute.
Raia then netted the third goal through Joyson Gauncar in the 30th minute. In the second half, Raia made it 4-1 through Danny Fernandes in the 47th minute, while Jason Fernandes of Arambol made it 2-4 in the 55th minute. Raia fired two more goals through Lloyd Cardozo and Jouston Barbosa in the 62nd and 65th minutes respectively to make it 6-2 for Raia.
The Man of the match award was presented to Danny Fernandes of Raia Sporting Club at the hands of Pedro Coutinho, ex-Panch of VP Raia.
