The fourth edition of Vedanta Women's Football League will kick off on February 28 at Duler stadium with a match between Goa United and FC Goa.
Over 100 women footballers will participate in the league, playing for five teams “ FC Goa, Futebol Club of YFA, Goa United Sports Academy, Sirvodem Sports Club and Compassion Football Club. The opening ceremony of the league will be held at the Navelim, Margao football ground, attended by Goa Football Association officials, senior management of Vedanta Sesa Goa Iron Ore, and all the team owners along with players.
Vedanta Women's League is the first of its kind platform for aspiring women footballers from Goa to showcase their skills and provides opportunities to live their dream of pursuing a professional career in football. Since its inception, the league has provided a platform to over 300 footballers and a few of the star footballers have emerged from the league such as Karishma Shirvoikar and Michel Castanha, who are shining at the national level.
