MARGAO: Verna Cultural Sports Club, Verna edged past St. Sebastian YSC, Fatorda with a 4-3 win via tiebreaker to advance in the St. Rock’s Inter-Village Football Tournament, held at Majorda ground on Monday.
Fatorda took the early lead through Edgar Noronha, but Verna responded swiftly with an equalizer from Desmond Gama. With the match ending in a 1-1 stalemate in regulation time, the game proceeded to a penalty shootout where Verna held their nerve to emerge victorious.
Samuel Miranda of Verna Cultural Sports Club was named Man of the Match for his standout performance.
