Vidya Vikas, Infant Jesus post wins

MARGAO
Vidya Vikas Academy scored a hard-fought 2-1 win against Fr Agnel Multipurpose HS. Warren Rodrigues and Bevan scored for VVA while Daiwik scored for Fr Agnel HS.

The teams were tied 1-1 at the lemon break. Infant Jesus HS Colva recorded their first win with a thumping victory over St Jude HS Betalbatim. Manglesh Bannikopa, Rahul Sherpali and Shenoy Fernandes scored a brace for Infant Jesus, Farman Haravi, Rishikesh Madiwal scored one each. Mahesh Kuppatagiri scored a consolation goal for St Jude.

Loyola HS leapfrogged Rosary HS to the summit of the table with a 5-0 victory. Rosary were wasteful in front of goal while the sharpness of Loyola in finishing propelled them to victory.

Reuben Barbosa scored a hat-trick and Andreas Furtado scored a brace for the winners. Round 4 ended with a fiery contest between Manovikas EMS and YFA. YFA came back from two goals down to win 3-2. Yohann Sousa and Eric Telles scored for Manovikas while Trond Dias, Aaryav Da Costa and Elrad Braganza scored for YFA.

Verna Veterans edge past Benaulim
Verna Veterans knocked out Benaulim Veterans 8-7 via the tiebreaker and moved into quaterfinals of the St Michael Veterans Cup football tournament organised by St Michael Boys at Orlim church ground on Friday.

Verna netted two quick goals through Remy and Benny in the 5th and 25th minutes respectively while Florence made it 1-2 for Benaulim in the 29th minute. In the second half, Seby inflated the tally to 3-1 for Verna.

Moments later, Jose netted to make it 2-3 for Benaulim while Pele equalised for Benaulim in the dying minutes, 3-3. In the tiebreaker, Verna veterans proved to be the better shooters. On Thursday, Fatorda Veterans defeated Wizards of Mugalli 6-1.

Slattery Memorial: Loyola HS edge Don Bosco
A formidable Loyola High School, Margao defeated Tiswadi Kings Don Bosco High School, Panaji by a solitary goal scored by Irwin Faleiro while Infant Jesus High School, Colva beat Our Lady of Health School, Cuncolim 1-0 through a goal by Rishikesh Madinal to enter the semifinals of the 24th Bro DO Slattery Memorial Inter School U-13 football tournament for boys organised by Regina Mundi School, Chicalim in association with Vasco Sports Club and Allumni Association of Regina Mundi School.

Earlier, Don Bosco beat St Thomas HS, Cansaulim 2-0 (Kaylen D Mello & Kayden Lobo), Loyola School beat St Jude's HS, Betalbatim 3-1 (Shelloyed, Sequeira & Irwin Faleiro), Infant Jesus beat Fr Agnel High School, Pilar 2-0 (Sgenoy Fernandes) and Our Lady of Health School, Cuncolim beat neighbours Regina Martyrum School, Assolna 4-2 via the tiebreaker.

In the Girls section, St Jude's High School Betalbatim beat St Andrews Institute, Vasco by a solitary goal to move into the finals.

St Rock beat SC Davorlim to enter finals
St Rock YC Majorda registered a solitary goal victory over SC Davorlim and moved into the finals of the 43rd St Joseph Festival football tournament organised by Dramapur Sports Club at Dramapur ground on Friday.

St Rock goalkeeper Shenoy Costa was rock solid under the bar and effected many saves. Majorda took lead through Kevin Almeida in the 27th minute. Majorda player Bevan Demello played a good match but missed chances to score in the 55th and 60th minutes.

SJD Areal shoot into semifinals
Sao Jose de Areal beat Fr Agnel YC Paroda 3-2 via the tiebreaker to enter the semifinals of the Fatima Trophy inter-village football tournament organised by Dicarpale SC at Dicarpale ground on Friday.

The full time score remained goalless. In the tiebreaker, Sao Jose de Areal netted through Vellinton Faleiro, Milton Gomendes and Preston Gomendes, while for Fr Agnel, Kanchan Kiro and Sezwin Fernandes scored.

St Anthony win tiebreaker
St Anthony Marna Siolim prevailed over Cuncolim Union 5-2 via the tiebreaker and moved into the quarterfinals of the Gold Silver Rolling Trophy at Our Lady of Rosary Church ground, Navelim on Friday.

Wilson Fernandes opened the scoring for Cuncolim in the 65th minute but the joy was short-lived as Sangam Pednekar equalised for Siolim in the 79th minute. In the tiebreaker, St Anthony Marna Siolim proved to be better shooters.

MARGAOAjit Ghatkar won three titles at the Sarsangan table tennis tournament organised by Saraswat Sports Sangh Charitable Trust at SAG Indooor Hall, Fatorda.Ghatkar won the titles in men's singles +50, men's doubles +40 and men's doubles +50 categories. In men's singles +50 category, Ghatkar got the better of Chaitanya Tarcar 11-2, 11-4, 11-3 in the final.
