Churchill Brothers FC winger Trijoy Dias has put pen on a contract extension of three years that sees him continue at the club for three years.
The Cuncolim-born 21-year-old winger played an instrumental role for the Red Machines, scoring three goals in the Goa Professional League.
“I am excited to continue my journey and learning with Churchill Brothers FC. I feel really good having extended my stay at the club. I am looking forward to getting back on the pitch,” Dias told 'The Goan' on Monday.
“The last season was one of immense experience and exposure. I am really grateful for the opportunities I have received and I had a chance to prove myself,” Dias added.
A product of Our Lady of Health High School, Cuncolim, Dias joined Sirlim Sports Club under Oscar D'Costa in the GFA age-group tournaments and played for a year there. Dias then joined Dempo Sports Club and featured in the Under-16, -18 and -20 tournaments. He then moved to Sporting Clube de Goa juniors in 2015 and later played for their senior team. In 2019, Dias courted controversy and was banned for one year for an incident involving a referee. “I still regret doing it,” Dias said of the bitter episode.
However, the player has buried the past and is looking forward to his new opportunity with the Red Machines. “It was always my dream to play in the I-League since a very young age and finally it is happening. My dream has come true,” Dias said.
Dias has done well at the State level and is now looking to step up a level higher in the I-League. The winger is braced for the new challenges ahead.
