Youth of Pidadigal dominated Rumba United in a thrilling match on Tuesday, securing a decisive 3-1 victory to enter the quarterfinals of the 9-a-side football tournament, organised by Sporting Club Virabhat, at St. Alex Church ground in Curtorim.
The first half saw Youth of Pidadigal take the lead thanks to a goal by Anthony Fernandes. Rumba United's Jusua had a chance to equalise before halftime but failed to convert. Youth of Pidadigal maintained their advantage, entering the break with a 1-0 lead.
The second half kicked off with another goal from Anthony Fernandes, further extending Youth of Pidadigal's dominance. Rumba United's Joshua Mascarenhas managed to pull one back for his team, but it wasn't enough to overcome Youth of Pidadigal's momentum. Anthony Fernandes sealed the win with a hat-trick.
For his outstanding performance, Anthony Fernandes was deservedly named the man of the match. The award was presented by Mouvin Noronha, president of Sporting Club Virabhat.
