Ambelim SC booked their spot in the quarterfinals of the Cavelossim Villagers UK Cup 2025 after a nail-biting 5–4 victory via penalty shootout over Guardian Angel SC, in a match held at the Fr. Druston and Wellington Ground, Cavelossim. The tournament is being organised by the Santa Cruz Club of Cavelossim.
In a tightly contested match largely fought in midfield, both teams had equal chances but failed to break the deadlock in regulation time due to misfiring forwards and erratic finishing.
Ambelim nearly sealed the game when Velroy Fernandes fired a powerful shot from close range, only for Guardian Angel goalkeeper Asfin Pinto to pull off a stunning save, tipping the ball away for a corner.
At the other end, Regan D’Costa missed a golden opportunity for Guardian Angel, shooting wide after dribbling past two defenders from close range.
In the ensuing tiebreaker, Desmond Fernandes, Garry Fernandes, Ozen DaSilva, Blasco Fernandes, and Velroy Fernandes netted for Ambelim. Godwin D’Costa, Velroy Carvalho, Jerito Fernandes, and Regan D’Costa converted for Guardian Angel, but Ivo Costa’s crucial miss—saved by Ambelim’s goalkeeper—proved decisive.
Raju Cardozo, President of the Club, presented the Food Court Man of the Match award to Floyd Furtado of Ambelim SC, in the presence of Viriato Mendes, Vice Chairman of the Club.
