In a breathtaking display of power-hitting, Super Strikers’ star batsman Kahlil Barreto smashed 44 runs off just 10 balls—featuring a stunning seven sixes in nine deliveries—to guide his team to a dominant victory in the finals of the Canacona Cricket Tournament. Barreto’s heroics earned him both the Man of the Match title and the Best Batsman of the Tournament award.
Chasing a modest target of 55 set by the Galgibaga Super Kings, Super Strikers wrapped up the match in just 2.5 overs. Rohan Komarpant chipped in with a steady 11 off 8 balls to seal the win and secure the Winner’s Cup for his side.
The four-over league tournament, hosted by the Ex-Students Association of St. Anthony High School, Galgibaga, saw participation from six local teams and was played at the school ground in Canacona.
Despite his team’s loss, Daksh Painginkar of Galgibaga Super Kings was named Player of the Tournament for his all-round performances. Meanwhile, Maison Fernandes of Super Strikers impressed with the ball and walked away with the Best Bowler of the Tournament award.
The prize distribution ceremony was graced by Chief Guest and Konkani Teacher Sandesh Prabhugoankar, along with PE Teacher Pankaj Desai and Geography Teacher Ramchandra Desai, who presented the trophies to the deserving winners.
