CAC Sports & Social Club, Cansaulim, booked their place in the quarter-finals of the 50th All Goa Chandor Seamen Rolling Trophy Inter-Village Football Tournament with a dominant 4-1 victory over Benfica Youth Club in the tournament opener held at the Chandor church complex ground .
Benfica Youth Club drew first blood in the 34th minute through a sharp finish from Johnson Horta. But CAC responded swiftly and ruthlessly. Within the span of just three minutes, they turned the game on its head. Arron Fernandes (39’), Rishley Soares (40’), and Jesus D’Sa (42’) all found the net in quick succession to give CAC a commanding 3-1 lead at halftime.
In the second half, Royann Gama added a fourth in the 53rd minute to put the result beyond doubt and send CAC cruising into the last eight.
Arron Fernandes was awarded the Hero of the Match for his pivotal performance. As part of the Golden Jubilee celebrations, Benfica Youth Club was also presented with a commemorative memento in recognition of their participation.
Earlier, the opening function was graced by Savio Medeira, former India international and national football coach, who attended as Chief Guest. Also present were Fr. Jean Da Cruz Fernandes (Parish Priest) and Sr. Zinnia Coreia (Presentation HSS), who served as Guests of Honour.
Special invitees included Fr. Afzal Fernandes, Piety Fernandes, Guirdolim Sarpanch Sonia Dias, and GFA Executive Member Mr. Patwin Fizardo, along with Maria Menezes, Nancy Antao, Hipolito Dias, Estefanio Dias, and Derrick Braganza Pereira.
