Jason D'Mello has been appointed as the new head coach of the Sesa Football Academy senior team following the departure of Charles Dias, according to sources close to the development.
D'Mello, who successfully led the club’s Under-18 team to an impressive run in last season’s GFA tournament, was selected due to his familiarity with the team and long-standing association with the Sesa setup.
A former goalkeeper for Sesa Goa, D'Mello has previously played under former India international striker Anthony D’Souza and has served in various coaching roles within the academy.
Club insiders cited his deep understanding of the players, leadership qualities, and commitment to the team’s development as key reasons behind the appointment. “He knows the team well, has played for Sesa Goa for many years, and brings valuable coaching experience, particularly with the Under-18 side,” a source said.
In a statement, Sesa Football Academy expressed confidence in D'Mello’s ability to guide the team through upcoming challenges. "Jason’s coaching talent, sense of responsibility, strong rapport with the squad, and constant drive to achieve more will be crucial in these important matches.”
Meanwhile, Allen Pereira has been named head coach of the academy’s junior team. Pereira, recruited from South Goa United, brings grassroots experience and will focus on nurturing emerging talent at the academy.
