The second fixture of the Anil Kamat Memorial Tournament delivered a gripping contest as Ambelim Sports Club secured a narrow 1-0 victory over Raia Sporting Club, courtesy of an unfortunate own goal late in the match.
The encounter got off to a lively start, with both teams displaying attacking intent from the outset. In the 4th minute, Raia Sporting Club’s Joswel Cardozo unleashed an early strike, only to be denied by an outstanding save from the Ambelim goalkeeper.
Ambelim responded swiftly, as Floyd Furtado fired a powerful attempt in the 7th minute that narrowly missed the target. Raia came close again in the 16th minute, but the effort failed to find the net.
Despite creating several promising opportunities, both sides struggled to convert their chances throughout the match. The decisive moment arrived in the 48th minute when Raia’s Jayson Gaonkar inadvertently put the ball into his own net, handing Ambelim a vital 1–0 advantage.
Raia Sporting pushed hard for an equaliser in the closing stages. However, Ambelim’s resolute defence held firm, sealing the victory and progression in the tournament.
