Goa’s veteran stalwarts delivered a memorable performance at the Yonex-Sunrise 48th Indian Masters (Veteran) National Badminton Championships powered by Raisoni Foundation at Navelim, headlined by gold medal wins from Dr Satish Dhondu Kudchadkar and the pair of Tanaji Sawant & Roseline Bunyan.
Kudchadkar clinched the Men’s Singles 80 title with a convincing 21-15, 21-15 victory over Suresh D. Hegde (KTK), while Sawant and Bunyan combined brilliantly to win the Mixed Doubles 70 crown, defeating Naidu S.K.B. and Kanya Kumari Salekoppa Bhatta (KTK) 22-20, 16-21, 21-17 in a thrilling final. Bunyan also added to Goa’s tally with a bronze medal in Women’s Singles 70, capping a fine all-round showing.
Kudchadkar further bagged a silver medal in Men’s Doubles 80, partnering Dharam Pal Khatana, going down to Radhey Shyam Goyal (UTR) and Damodar Thombre (MAH) 11-21, 17-21 in the final. Among other key results, Manjusha Sahasrabuddhe (MAH) dominated the Women’s 60 category, winning both singles and doubles titles - defeating Saroj Sawant 21-13, 21-12 in WS 60 and pairing with her in WD 60 to overcome Sujata Mehta and Sybil Miranda 21-13, 21-13.
