Secretary’s XI defeated President’s XI by six wickets in an exhibition match that was held at the Goa Cricket Association ground in Porvorim under the newly installed floodlights on Friday.

Chasing a modest target of 131, Secretary’s XI made light work of the total, reaching the mark with five balls to spare. The game, played under international-standard lighting installed at a cost of Rs 4 crore, showcased both the upgraded infrastructure and promising local talent.

Earlier, President’s XI posted 130 for 6 in their allotted 15 overs, with Vijay Kudtarkar top-scoring with a steady 30 off 24 balls. .

Secretary’s XI capitalised on the modest total with a composed chase led by Chaitanya Mardolkar, who anchored the innings with an unbeaten 37 off 23 deliveries. Mardolkar also made a significant impact with the ball, returning figures of 6/2, earning him the Man-of-the-Match award.

Among the standout performers, Viraj Phadke was named Best Bowler for Secretary’s XI, while Pandhari Gauns impressed in the field to take home the Best Fielder award.

Despite the loss, President’s XI had their moments, particularly through Kudtarkar’s effort with the bat, which earned him the Best Batsman recognition.

Both teams were felicitated with trophies, marking the occasion as a celebratory start to a new era at the venue.
