MB United Sports and Cultural Club, in association with the Goa Table Tennis Association (GTTA), will host the AVCC Inter School Table Tennis Tournament on August 20, from 9 am onwards at the Multipurpose Stadium, Fatorda.

This initiative forms an integral part of GTTA’s grassroots programme to identify young talents from schools across Goa who might not generally participate in State Ranking events, but who possess immense potential to excel.

“Our focus is to broadbase the sport by taking the game to every corner of Goa. Through such inter-school tournaments, we aim to encourage wider participation and discover hidden talent that can be nurtured for the state and national level. The South Goa Table Tennis District Council will take up the next leg of the initiative in Margao, with other affiliated clubs to follow suit in their respective regions,” stated GTTA President, Sudin Verenkar.

The launch edition of this series will feature participation from 10 schools in the Cuncolim, Chinchinim, Assolna, and Velim regions, with matches to be contested in the Under-14 and Under-17 categories.

“We are excited to begin this journey at the grassroots level with our club taking the lead,” said Oscar Martins, Secretary of MB United Sports and Cultural Club, which is headed by its President, Rohan Dessai.
