Guardian Angels SC booked their place in the semi-finals of the 3rd Fr. Bruno Leitao Memorial Inter-Village Football Tournament with a narrow 1–0 win over Navelim Sporting Club at the Chinchinim Church ground on Monday. The tournament is being organised by the Union of Chinchinim Villagers.
The match began with both teams showing attacking intent, creating several chances in a fast-paced first half. Regan Costa of Guardian Angel had the first clear opportunity, but Navelim's goalkeeper made a sharp diving save to keep the scores level. Navelim responded in the 12th minute through Ronaldo, whose powerful attempt was denied by Guardian Angel custodian Oswin Rodrigues. Despite the action at both ends, the first half ended goalless.
The deadlock was broken five minutes into the second half when Fhezer Gomes slotted home a well-placed shot to give Guardian Angels SC a 1–0 lead. Navelim nearly equalised in the 14th minute, but Nash Pereira missed a golden chance from close range.
Guardian Angel’s goalkeeper Oswin Rodrigues was the standout performer, pulling off a series of crucial saves to preserve his team’s slim advantage. His stellar performance earned him the Player of the Match award.
Guardian Angel SC will now look to carry their momentum into the semi-finals.
