Hosts Our Lady of Gloria Sports Club, Rachol, edged past St Sebastian Bachbhat 1-0 to win the 42nd edition of the Our Lady of Gloria Interward Football Tournament, organised by the club at the Rachol ground on the feast day, Sunday.
The tightly contested final was decided by a stunning long-range strike from Silvano, who scored the match-winner with a powerful 30-yard shot to seal victory for OL Gloria SC.
The final witnessed a strong turnout of spectators and dignitaries. Francisco Sardinha, Member of Parliament and former Chief Minister of Goa, was the chief guest and presented the prizes. Also present were Joseph Vaz, Sarpanch of VP Rachol; Roque Mascarenhas; Fr Anthony Rodrigues (Parish Priest, Rachol); Fr Jovial Fernandes; Cosme Oliver and Anthony Pango (Senior Vice President, GFA); Francisco Xavier Cardozo; Luis Quadros (former Sarpanch of Raia), among other officials and club representatives.
