It’sjust a 100 metre flooded stretch from Kale village to the Konkan Railway overbridge. But the stretch is enough to cut the village off from civilization.
Villagersof Kale have to travel 20 kilometers extra to reach the neighbouring villages.Currently Villagers are using an over bridge constructed on river Kale byKonkan Railway Corporation which is not accessible during monsoon.
Duringmonsoon river Kale gets flooded and the entire area within 100 meters from thepanchayat to over bridge gets flooded with water resulting in closures ofroads. In order to connect to places like Dharbandora, Collem, Mollem andBelgaum, villagers have lots of problem, as there are no roads or bridgeleading to these places. So villagers have to take a detour or around 30kilometers distance, which actually is mere 10 kilometers.
SantoshGaonkar, a panch of Kale village panchayat said: “Kale village panchayatcomprises of eight villages. Villagers face hardship when they have to travelto surrounding villages. Even tourists visiting the Seraulim dam have to travel30 kms extra. The actual distance between Kale and Dudhsagar is a mere 10kilometres.
“Wewere assured by ex-chief minister Digambar Kamat that an over bridge would beconstructed on the railway line but nothing was done. Currently onlytwo-wheelers can pass over the bridge, where in an individual has to drag thetwo-wheeler on the railway tracks, which is dangerous and illegal,” saidex-panch Vinod Goankar.
