Hindu Janajagruti Samiti (HJS) on Monday submitted a memorandum to North Goa Collector Lavinson Martins demanding to appoint special task force against Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingya gangs operating in Goa.
HJS delegation was comprised of Satyavijay Naik, South Goa convener of HJS, Raj Borkar, Keshav Chodankar and Gopal Bandiwad.
The memorandum further says that according to a news report Bangalore police has informed that illegal Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingya gangs are operating together in Goa, Delhi and Bengaluru. A special task force constituted by Bangalore police has so far apprehended 177 Rohingyas and Bangladeshi migrants. Detailed biometric data of 108 migrants have been checked and sent to the Centre. However, Goa government and police seems to be lethargic over the issue.
Government should appoint special task force against Bangladeshi migrants and Rohingya gangs operating in Goa as done in Bangalore and report to Centre in the interest of safety of Goa and Goans.
On October 9, 2017 under the banner of HJS have been opposing the giving of refuge to Rohingya Muslims from Myanmar either in India or Goa. The same statement is made by the Bengaluru police and they have taken action.
In September and October 2017 there were rallies and demonstrations held in support of the Rohingya Muslims in Goa at Margao, Bicholim and Vasco.
The statement of the Bengaluru police is a serious warning to the Goans. Also recently, police have found that Bangladeshi migrants are involved in couple of crimes in Goa. A copy of this memorandum will be submitted to DGP of Goa Police.
