Claiming to offer advanced world-class services in orthopaedics and terming this activity as first-of-its kind pioneering healthcare facility in Goa, the 'Orthopaedic hospital for Surgery' was launched in Margao at the hands of Fatorda MLA Vijai Sardesai.

Addressing a press conference on the sidelines of the launch of the hospital, CEO of the hospital, Chinmay Kantak said they have envisaged a truly international medical facility that will offer cutting edge healthcare services, administered by some of the finest medical expertise available. “Residents of Goa will no longer require to travel out the state for world-class orthopaedic care. With its state-of-the-art facilities and infrastructure and use of latest technology, this hospital is all set to provide big boost to Goa's medical tourism industry,” Kantak informed.

He said the hospital is spread over three floors and provides an entire range of specialized care in all disorders related to orthopaedics. According to Kantak, the hospital comprises of a state-of-the-art operation theatre with built-in laminar air flow system which comprises of a filter pad, a fan and 6 HEPA filters. The operation theatre also has a C-arm machine for imaging during surgery for more precision, kantak informed.

Earlier, CEO Kantak termed the hospital as an integrated health system which also offers free-standing emergency department, surgery center, outpatient consultation, pathological laboratory and community outreach services. “The Hospital provides care for all orthopaedic related illnesses including joint replacement, arthroscopy / sports medicine, spinal care and routine trauma,” Kantak informed. He said the hospital plans to conduct free patient bone density camps and free consultations on Sundays as part of its CSR activity. He claimed X-Rays and blood tests will be offered at discounted prices on these days.

Informing about his plans to get world class surgeons from Los Angeles to visit patients at this hospital as also sending surgeons at this hospital to Los Angeles, Kantak also spoke of his endeavour of a tie-up with an Orthopaedic hospital in Los Angeles, California.

PTI New Delhi After recording a sharp rise in August, gold imports dipped 45.62 per cent to $2.05 billion in September, a development that will help check the country's Current Account Deficit (CAD).
