BELAGAVI
Expecting early arrival of monsoon, farmers who normally grow vegetables till the end of summer and wait for better monsoon for sowing of regular crops did sow a little earlier this year, resulting in shortage of supplies leafy vegetables like spinach, coriander, methi, carrot, beans, etc.
Rates of these vegetables have shot up by 25 to 50 percent.
A bundle of 100 rates of coriander, red spinach, methi, etc, have shot up by about Rs 400 compared to last week. Due to shortage in supplies, onions and potatoes too have become expensive.
