World Trade Centre (WTC) is to bring a delegation of business people with the United Nations Procurement Division (UNPD) to Goa on November 17th, according to Goa's WTC Advisor, Manguirish Pai Raikar.
The event will be the most important of all WTC, Goa’s initiatives since its launch from a month ago. "UNPD is involved in several food related initiatives of the UN. The idea behind getting this delegation to Goa is to help them network with prominent farmers and food related businesses of not only Goa, but also of Southern Maharashtra and Northern Karnataka," Raikar said.
WTC is organising ‘Global Economic Summit 2015’ in Mumbai from November 19 to November 21, 2015. Two days before this event, the delegation will be in Goa. Raikar added, “We have already started identifying companies and people to interact with the delegation. Besides, we will also conduct training programmes for these people to get them exposure to best export practices. We will even take them to events related to their business, happening around the world. And, finally, we will support them in final documentation work, when they get the contract.”
WTC, Goa is giving a huge push to export-oriented units in the state by helping them in gaining knowledge, doing networking and understanding nuts and bolts of the trade. WTC’s overall aim is to help India grow its exports. As of now, India’s share in overall world’s exports stand at partly 1%. Prime Minister Modi has envisioned to bring this number to 5%.
