Ribandar’s school going kids’ woes ignored

The cries of the residents of Ribandar protesting against the hardships they expect to face amidst the restarting of the excavation of roads for the ‘smart city’ work have apparently fallen on deaf ears. Even their plea to at least postpone the work until the children finish their mid-term examinations and time it with their vacations, has been ignored.

Elsewhere, the State government has deferred the major repair work of the Tillari irrigation project’s canals. According to WRD Minister Subhash Shirodkar, the decision to defer the work, which incidentally involves another State -- Maharashtra -- was taken to ensure that the water flows and there is no shortage of water in North Goa in the duration of the National Games.

Beats us why the government could not defer the commencement of the ‘Smart City’ works at Ribandar and even Panaji by a fortnight so it times with the school vacation.

Oops, we forgot. Our netas and babus do not have kids taking the bus to school. They are all chauffeur driven!
