In fact, if sources at the South Goa district headquarters here are to be believed, as many as 18 traffic personnel, besides three officers have been roped in by the Traffic department to the capital city in view of the IFFI festivities.
While Margao traffic cell officials tried to downplay the impact the decision to requisition staff and personnel will have on the traffic scenario in the next 10 days, the ground reality is different. And, to make up the huge shortage, traffic personnel working in
the office have been told to double up and work on the field as well.
That the understaffed Margao traffic cell has been literally grappling with the city's growing traffic requirements is an open secret, with sources in the know saying the decision to requisition Margao traffic personnel to Panaji will only make matters worse in the commercial capital.

That buses making unauthorised stops at several places along the KTC-Flyover route in violation of traffic rules is not uncommon in the city for want of adequate number of traffic personnel to man and regulate the traffic.
