GFDC Aldona won their match against GFDC Poira in the U-10 boys category at the
ongoing Vodafone GFDC Rising Star Football Festival at GFDC Poira centre, Saturday.
Rhian Pollard was the hero of the match and scored two crucial goals for GFDC Aldona. They defeated GFDC Poira by a 3-0 margin.
For almost throughout the match, GFDC Aldona had good control on the game. Aldona played aggressively and in the first half Rhian scored for his team successfully, breaking the defence of Poira. Then in second half, Rhian Pollard again scored for his team thus giving a convincing lead of 2-0 for Aldona.
In the dying minutes of the match, Poira scored a self goal, there by giving Aldona a lead of 3-0. Rhian Pollard was declared player of the match for scoring two goals.
In another U-13 boys match, played between Aldona and Poira centre, both teams scored one goal each and the result was a draw. Ravi Rai of Aldona scored the first goal of the match in first half. But in second half Krish Naroji of Poira equalised and drew the match for his team. In the last ten minutes of the match Poira were lucky and they were successful in defending their goal post, including one penalty save by Poira goalkeeper. Krish Naroji of Poira was adjudged layer of the match.
Meanwhile at Collem, GFDC Valpoi had a good win against Collem in U-10 and U-13 category matches.
In boys U-10 and U-13 matches, Valpoi beat Collem 1-0 and 2-1 respectively.
In girls U-13, Collem beat Valpoi 3-0. In the first match of U-13 boys, GFDC Collem had a fantastic start with their forward player Omkar Sawant scoring in the first half.
Omkar scored with a 20-yard kick which Valpoi goalkeeper failed to collect. By the end of the first half Collem was leading 1-0. But in the second half, Valpoi came back and scored 2 goals. Their main forward Tauqir Khan scored both the goals in last 15 minutes. Collem tried to equalise but were stopped by strong defence of Valpoi. Tauqir Khan was named player of the match.
In U-10 boys, GFDC Valpoi again beat GFDC Collem 1-0. Ayan Khan scored the goal for Valpoi and their team player Tufel Khan was named the player of the match. Valpoi U-10 qualified for the next round. However, in girls category GFDC Valpoi failed to impress. They lost to Collem 3-0. Merlyn Mascarenhas scored 2 goals and Musrat Hanakanali logged in a solitary goal for Collem. All three goals were scored in the first half. Musrat Hanakanali was adjudged player of the match.
