With no street lights, pavements and total neglect by the State government, the Baga-Arpora road with some of the worst infrastructure, is struggling to cope up with mass tourism.
This stretch boasts of unique and famous resorts, cafes and restaurants like Le Poisson Rouge, Mykonos Blu, Lila Café and The Royal Goan Beach Club.
The government, recently, built a huge parking lot at Baga just a stone’s throw away from this road.
Also, just before the start of the tourist season, the government built a wide road from Arpora Church to the diversion which takes you to this road.
When both the approach roads to Baga-Arpora road have been built and given due care, one cannot understand why the State government has totally neglected this stretch.
Just next to Baga Bridge is ‘Banana Beach Bar’. Its manager, Mark Fernandes, says, “While it’s great that the government has built a new parking lot at Baga, we haven’t got any benefit from it”. Gregory Bazire, from Le Poisson Rouge, says, “We are trying to keep our level up amidst all this”.  But, if things don’t improve, its going to be a huge challenge in the long run.
