All set to make waves

After enthralling all with their spectacular previous editions, BITS Pilani, Goa is all set to organise yet another exciting edition of ‘Waves'. Based on the theme ‘Tale of Two Shades' the three day college festival is all set to begin on October 27.
The fest which has witnessed participation from as many as 160 college from around India has already had a plethora of pre fest events and competitions over the last few months.
Among the many pre events was a night of much laughter and giggling as comedians Karunesh Talwar and Kunal Kamra entertained the crowds at the Pre-Waves Comedy Night in September.
As part of the main festival though there will be a myriad display of talent all around with four main events around which the festival is structured. These events are Florence - performing arts (dance, drama and music) saga, Beau Vista - lifestyle fest, Carpe Dictum - literary fest and Specials - which are the flagship events i.e. Fash P, Natyanjali and Mr & Mrs Waves.
And the nights only make things better as the festival will have three ‘Pro Nites' which will each be dedicated to a different genre witnessing some of the best music talents around the country. DJ night witnesses some great Djs spinning magic on the decks and past editions have seen giants like Lost Stories and Nucleya perform, leaving the crowd completely spent after a night of rave dancing. Another night is titled ‘English Nite' and has previosuly featured performances from the likes of ‘The F16s', ‘As We Keep Searching', ‘The Blackstratblues' and ‘Thermal And A Quarter'. The finale - ‘Bollywood a.k.a Hindi Nite' has seen some of the best Bollywood names.
This time around Diego Miranda, Bollywood music sensations Vishal and Shekhar and the winners of the Sea Rock music event will be among those that take the stage.
Participants from the National Eliminations Waves' which featured huge participation in 9 cities for three different events, viz. SpinOff (DJing), Show Me The Funny a.k.a. SMTF (standup comedy) and Inverse (poetry slam) across the North, South, East and West chapters will also be battling it out for the finals at the event.
And if that wasn't enough to get you excited, there will also be a number of new events this time around which includes the fashion design event, the Hindi poetry event ‘Irshad' and a Silent DJ event.
The Silent DJ event centres around the concept of everyone coming in putting on headphones and swaying to their own music.
Informals and online contests, with ‘Waves' merchandise as prizes, are already up and running from the official Waves Facebook page, which has created a buzz in colleges across the country.
