After the district Collector, South issued directions to remove the stalls on the footpaths near the Aquem Power junction, the Executive Engineer, Electricity, Div IV (O&M), Margao has issued notices to the owners of the five stalls to remove the structures within seven days or face action.
The district Collector had issued directions to the Margao Municipal Chief Officer and the Electricity department to take action for removal of all the encroachments, constructions etc. in the premises/properties of the Electricity Department, and also on the road side/ public place in accordance of the law and as per the directions of the High Court and Goa Land (Prohibition on Construction) Act, 1995.
Based on the Collector’s directions, the Electricity department has issued notices to the five stalls to remove all the encroachments/constructions etc., within 7 days from the date of this Notice, failing which; necessary action shall be initiated in removal of all your encroachment/construction without any further intimation.
Incidentally, nothing has been heard from the Margao Municipal Council on the matter and how the Civic body will go about in clearing the encroachments from the footpath near the Aquem Power House.
