Let us make in India!

Just moving by the corner of the society, several hundred times there must have raised a concern regarding the safety of the women. It is shameful for the world to accept the fact that even today, women around the world don’t feel safe in the society they live in. Every second second of their life, women are constantly with the alertness in their minds about their safety and their freedom! A woman has always been a fighter and not a survivor. She tackles the problems such as eve-teasing, abusements, domestic violence, harassment, rape, in her everyday life. Inspite of such an atmosphere, it is really a thing to be proud of to see the women around the world rise above all odds, face the society bravely and lead the world towards progress.

And so looking at the need of the hour, our society requires to be awakened and be done active of its duties in contributing towards the safety of the women and make it its utmost priority. Unless the society itself decides to create really safe surrounding for the women, safety of the women will persist to remain a concern forever.

Mahatma Gandhi once said, ‘if you want to change the world, change yourself first!’ it is time for us to work accordingly. Safety of women on the Indian streets is no new thing. India has witnessed so much violence against women and also faced its consequences, but still the nation hasn’t yet managed to achieve the safety of women, 100%.

Just, two weeks before, the nation celebrated one of its most dignified and important patriotic event, the republic day-26 January. We all are aware that it was this day on which the constitution of India came into force in 1950. And being the citizens of the country, each one of us ought to know the preamble of our constitution, the fundamental rights and inculcate the fundamental duties written in it. It’s been 69 years for the republic, since then our nation has seen vast development and progress throughout the years.

On one hand, we are leading and working hard to make our nation proud every day, but at the same time, our society is lagging behind in fulfilling its duties, especially when it comes to the safety of the women in the society. Even after so many law enforcements and acts implementations, the nation has hardly managed to create clean, safe and responsible society for the women.

It is high time now that we realize that instead of blaming the government and the system, the society itself needs to be changed. And that, the society is not anything else but us made of you and made of me! Unless you and I don’t come together, we won’t be able to bring about a positive change required. We need to work together. Safety of women should not be just talked or written about and preserved in pages; it needs to be put forth in reality!

Let us together create clean, safe and responsible society for the women and add true meaning to the coming March 8. Let us treat every woman with respect she deserves and let us stop putting our limits on her. Let us first make “our” society a better and safe place for women, and soon the world will become one! Let us make in India!
