Modi is now world's most followed leader; Trump could easily overtake PM

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has become the world's most followed leader of a country on social media as Barack Obama leaves White House for the next President of US Donald Trump.
PMO sources say that that Modi now has the highest number of followers among all leaders of State on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Google+.
On Twitter, Modi's followers are 26.5 million, on Facebook the number is 39.2 million, on Google+, the number is 3.2 million, on LinkedIn, the number is 1.99 million, on Instagram it is 5.8 million and on YouTube it is 5.91 lakh, the sources noted.
Barack Obama has 80.7 million followers on Twitter.
His Mobile App, which has nearly 10 million downloads, is also the most widely used app for a political figure.
The app consists of gamification features where people can contribute in many ways and earn points.
The Prime Minister regularly invites suggestions for various issues through his App and the top contributors in the App get to meet PM Modi.
The outgoing President of the United States, Barack Obama is currently the most followed head of state on social media. Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who is the second most followed leader in the world on social media websites, will come on the top of the list as Obama will cease to be the President. The United States President-elect Donald Trump is way below the Indian Prime Minister as far as popularity on social media is concerned. However, chances of him overtaking Modi are high as he is already quite popular in the virtual world.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi has a whopping 76.2 million followers on prominent social-networking websites. Obama had 80.7 million followers on Twitter and 58.7 million followers on Facebook.
Donald Trump is fairly popular on Twitter for a President-elect. Trump has 20.5 million followers on Twitter. He is not much behind Modi on the micro-blogging website. Modi has an edge on Facebook as Trump is far behind him with 17.7 million followers. But he can cover his ground as he is not sworn-in as the President yet. His followership will swell after assumes the office as he is known for making explosive comments and announcements on Twitter. Recently, he made a sensational comment on Twitter, calling for strengthening the United States’ nuclear capability.
“The United States must greatly strengthen and expand its nuclear capability until such time as the world comes to its senses regarding nukes,” he had tweeted.
From launching personal attacks to threatening media, Donald Trump has done all on social media. It is likely that Trump will remain as animated as he has been in the virtual world, which may make him the most popular leader there. Also due to the influence an American President has on people across the world, it is expected that Trump will gain massive following in the coming months.
