Minister for Social Welfare Subhash Phal Desai on Monday said the Goa government is committed to turning the dream of every individual to own a house into reality as he inaugurated a special drive under the Atal Asara Yojana at Balli.

Speaking at the day-long camp, Phal Desai said the government is working on the principle of Antyodaya Tatva -- upliftment of the last person in society -- and is determined to ensure housing for all. “We are striving to reach every eligible beneficiary, and these camps are a step towards fulfilling that goal,” he added.

To streamline the process and clear long-pending applications, a full team from the Directorate of Social Welfare was deputed to the camp, along with the BDO, Mamlatdar, and village panchayat secretaries. Social Welfare Director Ajit Panchwadkar said their presence helped ensure that required certificates were made available on the spot, enabling applicants to address deficiencies in their applications swiftly.

More than 149 applications were scrutinised during the special drive, and the minister directed that sanction orders be issued without delay. He also instructed officials to release payments within 15 days.

The next Atal Asara Yojana camp will be held on Tuesday at Sristhal Panchayat Hall, Canacona. A total of eight such camps have been scheduled across the state, concluding on May 21.
