Teenage girl shot dead by male friend inside a Mercedes

A 17-year-old girl who was with her two male friends was shot dead under mysterious circumstances inside a car by one of them, just outside her house in south-west Delhi's Najafgarh area.

The accused Shubham is absconding, while the other youth Yogesh was detained by police for further questioning.

“Accused Shubham and his family are absconding. Yogesh has been detained for further questioning,” said Surender Kumar, DCP(south west) Police said, the deceased girl was a resident of Dipak Vihar locality in Najafgarh area. She was preparing for Law entrance exams.

She had gone for lunch with Shubham and Yogesh to Rajouri Garden around 2.30 pm yesterday. She knew Shubham but met Yogesh for the first time.

Mother of the deceased had called her around 7 pm when she failed to reach home in time. The trio had stopped at different places while going to Rajouri Garden and had returned back around 9 pm.

As the Mercedes car, owned by Yogesh, stopped outside girl's house, he came out leaving her and Shubham inside.

Later, the mother of the deceased who was anxiously waiting for her heard a gunshot and rushed to find the car and her daughter in a pool of blood.

The girl was taken to a local hospital where she was declared brought dead.

The statements of eye witnesses recorded and a case of murder has been registered at Najafagrh police station.

Police found that alcohol was also consumed by them when they had lunch in Rajouri Garden. The girl had also told her mother about shopping in Dwarka but there were no signs of stress till then.

Police said that the murder was being probed from all angles but denied any sexual assault on the deceased. Further details will be available after the post mortem report is received.

The gun used to shoot the girl was licenced and owned by Yogesh. He is being questioned extensively for details about the accused and possible reason behind the murder.
