Today, November 2, is All Saints' Day. Christians remember their deceased family, friends, relatives on this day by visiting the cemetery and decorating the graves of their loved ones.
Special Mass is conducted at the cemetery to mark the day.
Believers remember and pray for the souls of people who are in purgatory - the place in which those who have died atone for their sins before being granted the vision of God in Heaven.
The thought behind this is that when a soul leaves the body, it is not entirely cleansed from minor sins. But, through the power of prayer, the faithful on earth can help these souls gain the souls the heavenly vision they seek.
In Goa, Christians pray at the Alma Khuris (Rozar ani Ladin). Praying for the dead is an ancient Christian tradition.
When you visit cemetery to decorate the graves and light candles. Please keep it clean free from plastic bags and other toxic material.
