Do or die

Today’s match against Atletico de Kolkata will decide if FC Goa still has a change of making it to the top four in the group. The Gaurs have not had a bit of luck in the first three matches. Besides, their midfield engine appears to have shut down and the strikers are struggling to find their mark. Consequently, FC Goa sits at the bottom of the table, the only team with no points from three matches. The team had faced a similar position in the first edition of the tournament, but came back and remained unbeaten for the next 10 games, the longest run in the tournament. They lost four matches but made it to the second position in the table. In the 2015 edition, FC Goa lost three games but made it to the top of the league table. FC Goa has a set of players that can take the game to a higher level and a brilliant coach in Zico. There are a few problems that need to be ironed out and some concern over the morale of goalkeeper Laxmikant Kattimani. If scoring field goals is a problem, then the team needs to double its focus on set-pieces and defend because Sunday is a do-or-die match.
