The stray cattle menace has become a hot issue and a big problem in the state of Goa. Stray cattle are found roaming freely in the village and city roads. They are found squatting in the middle of the almost each and every single road in Goa causing traffic jams. The situation turns worse at night when it becomes difficult for drivers to spot the stray animals due to darkness as most cows and buffaloes are black in colour. So many vehicles have sustained damage, so many lives have already been lost and many other’s injured due to accidents involving stray cattle. So many stray cattle, too are suffering from injury and there is no one coming forward to protect both human being and animal.
Where are the cow protectors or so called gau rakshaks? Where are the owners of the cattle? Why aren’t they taking proper care of the animal, instead leaving them to eat garbage and leftovers on the roadsides? Why isn’t our government doing anything regarding this issue?
