With a few days left for the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, it is rather disgusting to note that some of the potholed/defective roads in different parts of the state have not yet been repaired. In Ponda, the road near the flyover along the Dhawali by-pass road has been existing in a pitiful state of affairs. During rainy showers, two-wheelers are confronted with great risk and danger due to the existing potholes. In case they happen to lose balance, they would certainly collapse to the ground thereby leading to adverse consequences. Even the road at Khadpabandh area has developed potholes.
It seems human lives are taken for granted. Although hot mixing of roads in the state would be taken up only after the monsoons, it doesn’t mean repairing of potholes should be held up. It is the need of the hour that the potholed roads are repaired at once so that travellers are assured safety during this major festival.
Let us hope that the concerned authorities would levy a sympathetic consideration to this serious matter and initiate prompt positive steps to bring the existing degrading condition under control. This would go a long way in reducing the number of mishaps on road during the Ganesh festival celebrations in the state.
It is time for the PWD Minister Sudin Dhavalikar to be quick enough in accomplishing the above task on priority basis in public interest. At least for the time being, innocent travellers must be assured safety and protection at all costs.
