Mormugao Municipal Council (MMC) had a special Council meeting on Tuesday morning where it was decided to hike trade licence fees by ten percent on slab basis and also hike signboard charges.
MMC also decided to take up extensive pre-monsoon works where major nullahs would be desilted and wells in the area would be cleaned through WRD department.
The council also decided to get two open trucks and resolved to permit fruit vendors for availing one bulb electrical connection with common electric panel for handcarts.
Speaking to media after the special Council meeting, MMC Chairperson Kritesh Gaonkar said that pre-monsoon work would be take up extensively across various areas in
Vasco.
“All major gutters and nullahs across Vasco would be desilted through WRD and wells around Vasco would be cleaned. We have scarapped our old trucks and have put them up for auction... we plan to buy two new open trucks”, he said.
Trade license fees and signboard charges would be hiked by ten percent on a slab wise basis. Basic hike is ten percent for small businesses. The new rates will be applicable after March and effective from April and this will also generate extra revenue for MMC, Gaonkar added
The other issues discussed in the council meeting on Tuesday was engaging labour for pre-monsoon works, Bipartite Settlement of Municipal Employees association, receiving of morgue from Urban Development Minister Milind Naik, burial space for People for Animals (PFA) for animals that pass away, construction of gutters in Ward no 14 and development works in Ward 21, 22 and 25.
