Panjim is currently bursting at its seams where parking is concerned with no place available to park during peak hours leading to double and haphazard parking which leads to further traffic congestion and a major waste of time. However, it is noticed that at any given time, atleast 25 tourist taxis are occupying the parking slots in Panjim. As per the permits issued by the Directorate of Transport, tourist taxis are supposed to be stationed at their residence. Then why are they being allowed to park in Panjim thus blocking the parking slots? Tourist taxis in Panjim should be directed to immediately shift from Panjim by the concerned authorities failing which their permits should be cancelled. They could be allowed to park in the multi level parking complex in Patto free of cost. I have taken up the matter with the City Corporation of Panjim and the Directorate of Transport. I request like minded citizens to also write to the above authorities so as to build up the pressure on them.
