Two senior officials of MoselleDevelopment, the economic development agency from that region in France are ona two day visit to the state in an attempt to enthuse local businesses toinvest in that place. Speaking to The Goan Thierry Petry Director for Indiasaid” We have meeting with local businesses tomorrow. We had come over twoyears ago and this visit is part of our trip to India covering Gujarat, Goa andDelhi”.
An attempt to invite Indian businesses inMoselle was first made in 2009. The area positions itself as the gateway to westernEurope with Germany, Luxembourg and Belgium all around the corner. Tata Steelwhich was earlier Corus is based in Moselle. Companies interested in setting upbase may be enthused by the cost of land available. A sq mtr will be sold toinvestors for as little as Euro 15.
Thierry felt that executive managers with along term vision would certainly think of investing in the area since it wouldopen up their markets and it would make sense for Indian companies to lookbeyond Germany and England. The area has attracted 15 automobile plants ofvarious brands and they hope their visit to Goa and the rest of the countrywill elicit a similar response in years to come.
