‘Sea vigil’ drill: Security agencies detect two dummy bombs

In a joint two-day coastal defence exercise ‘sea vigil’ security agencies successfully detected two dummy bombs, one at the Vasco ferry point and the other at the Panaji market.

South Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas said, one dummy bomb was successfully detected at Khariwaddo, Vasco jetty, said South Goa Superintendent of Police Arvind Gawas. The exercise was part of a routine joint exercise run with the objective to ensure preparedness for precautionary and war time response in coastal areas and is part of a pan-India exercise - Tropex-2019.

This exercise has been named as ‘sea vigil’ and all state agencies related to coastal security participated.   

Coast Guard, Navy, Goa Police, Goa coastal security intelligence agencies, MPT, Captain of Ports, CISF and Customs were the agencies which took part in the exercise.   

Intelligence gathering system, alertness and response time of the security agencies were tested during the exercise.
