Goa Forward party in association with Bodgeshwar Cricketers, has organised an all-Goa Panchayat day and night tennis ball cricket tournament at Guirim. Matches will be played from January 26-28 at Namoshi ground, opposite Hotel Green Park. In all 40 teams are participating in this tournament.
Briefing the press, Housing Minister Jayesh Salgaonkar claimed that the tournament has been organised to provide a platform for Goan youth.
The winner of the tournament will receive Rs 1, 25, 000, while the runners-up will bag Rs 55,000 besides trophies. Individual prizes - man-of-the match, best bowler, best batsman; will also be
awarded.
Matches will be of six overs each upto quarter-finals and semi-final; while the final match will be of eight
overs each.
The captains of all 40 teams were present for the draw, with Rising 11 Guirim and Dhargal, drawn to play the opening match. Guirim Sarpanch Chaitrally Morajkar, Dy.-Sarpanch Sunny Nanodkar, Sanam Salgaonkar, Sakharam Morajkar and Babaji Gadekar were also present.
