Goa carnival festival from Feb 8

Panjim: The Goa Carnival, Food & Cultural Festival 2013,a celebration of the State’s rich culture and heritage, will begin fromFebruary 8 and go on until February 12. The opening ceremony will kick off at DB Marg, Panjim on February 9. The festival, as usual, will feature floatparades in all four cities -- Panjim, Margao, Vasco and Mapusa. An addedhighlight to the float parade is a special Bollywood float that will featurefamous stars like Neha Dhupia, Sayali Bhagat, Tanushree Dutta, Geeta Basra& others. For the first time the Carnival experience will include the Food& Cultural Festival which is envisaged over a period of five days, fromFebruary 8 to 12 at the NIWS Grounds, Caranzalem, Panjim. There will be livemusic from national level performers like Farhan Akhtar, Parikrama,  Remo, Lorna, Sonia Shirsat, Agnee, AnushkaManchanda, Indian Idol Stars  and others.More than 70 stalls will be providing food, beverages and lifestyle products.The festival will also feature a lineup of famous local bands. A Fashion Showby Wendell Rodricks is touted to be one of the main highlights.

Grape Escapade gets good response

Panjim: The Grape Escapade, the annual wine fest organisedby Goa State Development Corporation, was held at SAG Grounds, Campal lastweek. The event was opened by Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in the presenceof Tourism Minister Dilip Parulekar and Chairman of GTDC & MLA NileshCabral. The venture is a unique event held every year to showcase themulticultural Goan lifestyle and artistic flavours that make Goa the ideallifestyle destination. A number of international and national wine brands andfood stalls were on display at the event. Indian Grape Processing Board and AllIndia Wine Producers Association were trade partners for the event.
